Card game Osmooz Couples

How does Osmooz work?

Osmooz Couples is a card game designed to help couples reconnect and break the routine. There isn’t really a rulebook: the cards are split into 3 levels, Flirt, Passion and Osmose and 5 categories: Our plans, Closeness, Self-revelations, Playful and Dares. You draw depending on your mood and the intensity you’re after.

The Osmose level stays truest to the spirit of the old Hot version of the range: it’s the most intimate tier, designed for couples who want to take the exchange further. Dare cards work as challenges to complete together, either on the spot or later in the week.

How a round plays out

In practice, each card offers a question or challenge to read aloud. Many couples start with the Flirt level to build confidence, before moving on to Passion and, if they wish, to Osmose. There’s no set order: you can stick to one level depending on the mood of the evening, or mix all three to keep the surprise going from one round to the next.

Who is it for

The game is aimed at all couples, beginners or experienced and works just as well as a gift for a couple of friends, newlyweds, or a long-term couple looking for something new. No extra accessories are needed, making it an easy game to pack for a weekend away or bring out on the spur of the moment.

The Osmooz range also includes two other games: Dares for 2, 120 scratch cards across 6 themes and more focused on activities and outings; and Love Battle, 88 cards that turn everyday life into a series of surprise challenges and teasing. Both are covered just below.

What couples who tried it think

Reviews are very largely positive. The point praised most often is the freedom offered by the 3 levels: couples like being able to choose according to their mood, which makes the game usable both for a first date night and to reconnect a long-established couple. The variety of the questions comes up regularly, with several mentions of laughter and deeper conversations than expected.

The Osmose level, the most intense, is especially appreciated by couples who were specifically after the Hot experience from the range. A few drawbacks do come up, though: some players find the entry-level cards a bit too tame, others would have liked more Dare cards to extend play and one isolated print defect was reported, without calling the overall experience into question.

Overall, the game is described as easy to pick up, suited to all couples and effective at building closeness while having fun. The other two games in the range, Dares for 2 and Love Battle, are still fairly new to the store and have fewer reviews, but carry the same playful, approachable spirit.

Our tips before you start

For a first round, it’s best to draw a few Flirt cards before moving to the higher levels: this lets you settle into the pace of the game and sense how far each of you wants to go that evening. Dare cards are better kept aside to bring out over the following days rather than all played the same night.

If your goal is to recreate the old Hot edition experience precisely, go straight for the Osmose level: it’s the closest match for that intensity. Couples who prefer a more gradual approach will still get plenty out of starting with Flirt and Passion.

Frequently asked questions

Does Osmooz Hot still exist?

At Passage du Desir, the game is now sold under the name Osmooz Couples, with an Osmose level matching the intensity of the old Hot version.

Can you play without going through the Flirt and Passion levels?

Yes, nothing forces you to follow the level order: you can draw directly from Osmose if both partners are comfortable with that intensity.

What's the difference with Osmooz Dares for 2?

Dares for 2 leans more towards activities and outings as a couple with scratch cards, while Osmooz Couples stays focused on questions and intimacy.

Our verdict

If you were looking for Osmooz Hot, it’s Osmooz Couples you should turn to today: the Osmose level carries over the intensity you’re after, with two gentler levels thrown in to build up at your own pace. A versatile, well-received game, ideal for breaking the routine with no extra gear needed. Couples who want to mix up the format can round it out with Dares for 2 or Love Battle.
